Everything you need to know about using ScanJunki.
Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Click 'Start free trial' on the homepage. Sign up with your email and password, or use Google sign-in. You'll get 30 days of full access.
Do I need to link my eBay account?
It's recommended but not required. Linking your eBay account gives you better, more accurate pricing data and sold history. You can link it during onboarding or later from your account page.
How do I select my marketplace?
During onboarding, you'll choose your primary eBay marketplace (e.g. eBay UK, eBay US, eBay DE, eBay AU). This sets the correct currency and fee schedule. You can switch marketplaces anytime from the header on the scan page.
What happens after the free trial?
After 30 days, your card is charged automatically at £20/month (or £200/year if you chose yearly). Cancel anytime during the trial and you pay nothing. After the trial, free accounts are limited to 50 scans per day.
Scanning Products
What barcodes are supported?
ScanJunki supports UPC (12 digits), EAN (13 digits), and ISBN barcodes. You can type or paste the barcode number, or use your phone camera to scan the barcode directly.
How do I use the camera scanner?
Tap the Scan button in the bottom navigation bar. On the scan page, tap the camera icon to open the barcode scanner. Point your camera at a barcode and it will be detected automatically. You can also flip between front and rear cameras.
Why does a scan show no results?
Not all products have active eBay listings. Try switching to a different marketplace, enabling Broad Search in the header, or check that the barcode is correct. Some niche products may have very few listings.
What does the pricing data show?
You'll see average listing prices, price ranges, the number of active sellers, sold count data, and a price distribution chart. The quick info panel shows estimated profit, ROI, and max cost at a glance.
What is Broad Search?
When enabled, Broad Search also searches eBay by the product title (not just barcode). This finds more results for products that sellers don't always list with barcodes. Toggle it from the header on the scan page.
Profit Calculator
How are eBay fees calculated?
Fees are calculated per-category and per-marketplace using the latest 2026 eBay fee schedules. This includes the Final Value Fee, regulatory operating fee (UK/EU only), and per-order fee. Private sellers in the UK and Germany pay zero eBay fees on domestic sales.
What's the difference between Private and Business sellers?
Private sellers pay zero eBay fees on domestic sales in the UK (since Sep 2024) and Germany (since Mar 2023). Business sellers pay the standard fee rates. You can toggle this in Settings.
How do eBay Store subscriptions affect fees?
In the US, having a Basic store or higher reduces your Final Value Fees slightly. UK stores do NOT reduce FVF. You can set your store tier in Settings.
What about VAT?
If you're VAT registered, enable it in Settings and set your VAT rate. The calculator will account for output VAT on the sale and reclaimable input VAT on your costs and fees.
Can I change the sale price?
Yes. The sale price auto-fills from the average listing price, but you can edit it to see how different price points affect your profit.
What is the Multi-Buy Calculator?
Enable it in Settings to help with shop deals like '2 for £13' or '4 for £3'. When enabled, you'll see a deal calculator above the cost price input — pick the quantity and enter the total price, and it auto-calculates the per-unit cost for you.
What is Promoted Listings?
eBay's advertising programme where you pay an ad fee percentage if your item sells through a promoted listing. Set your ad rate in Settings and it'll be included in the profit calculation.
Scan History & Lists
Where are my scanned products saved?
Every scan is saved to your history automatically. View it from the History tab in the bottom navigation. Your history syncs across devices when you're signed in.
Can I favourite products?
Yes. Tap the heart icon on any scan to mark it as a favourite. Filter your history to show favourites only using the star tab.
What is 'Found At'?
When you find a product in a shop, you can tag where you found it (e.g. 'Tesco', 'Charity shop'). This helps you track which stores have the best finds.
How do Lists work?
Create custom lists to organise your finds — e.g. 'Charity shop haul', 'Car boot picks'. Add scanned items to lists to keep track of sourcing trips.
Can I export my data?
Pro users can export scan history and lists as CSV files from the admin panel and history page.
