ScanJunki vs eBay Product Research vs Profit Prophet
Three ways to find out what something sells for on eBay before you buy it. Each is good at a different job, so this page states what each one does, what it costs and where its numbers come from, with sources you can check yourself.

When eBay Product Research is the right tool
You want history. Product Research holds up to 3 years of sold data with average sold price, price range and sell through rate, filterable by date range, condition and product identifiers. It is included with Seller Hub and there is a Research tab in the eBay app. It does not calculate your profit, and it is a search rather than a scan, so it suits a desk more than a shop floor.
When Profit Prophet is the right tool
You want a photo to identify an item without a barcode and you also sell on Vinted, Depop or Facebook Marketplace, where it shows estimates. It is an iPhone and iPad app with subscriptions listed at £6.99 and £10.99 a month and credit packs on top. Its listing says fees are deducted automatically; it does not state the category rate it uses, so check its fee against eBay's published rate for your category.
When ScanJunki is the right tool
You are standing in a shop with a barcode in front of you and want a buy or leave answer after the real fees. ScanJunki scans the barcode (or takes a product name or photo), pulls current eBay listing prices and units sold, and applies the fee for the item's category and marketplace: 10.9% for most UK categories, 9.9% for electronics, 11.9% for home and garden, the 0.35% regulatory fee, the per order fee, Promoted Listings, postage and VAT, with zero eBay fees for private sellers on UK and German domestic sales. It is free, with no card and no trial, on the web, the App Store and Google Play. It does not show a 3 year price history; for that, use Product Research.
